Stoic Studio, makers of the tactical-RPG Banner Saga franchise, announced a brand-new game today at the Summer season Game Fest Xbox Showcase. Towerborne is an action-RPG fighter that appears to be a contrast to the studio’s previous work.

The video game’s dream world exposes mankind hiding out in The Belfry, a massive tower ignoring a world overrun by monsters and other weird opponents. “We all love and are motivated by timeless beat ’em up games and desired to make one with persistence, where we can continue to expand the functions and the gameplay modes for as long as possible.”

Thomas says death for the video game’s heroes (known as Aces) is a crucial element in Towerborne. Rather of passing away and respawning as if absolutely nothing took place, your hero’s death plays into the storyline. “As an Ace, you’re a special force for excellent due to the fact that you’re able to head out and face the most hazardous stuff, die, and then return,” Thomas stated. “We didn’t want to simply gloss over it like a typical gameplay thing, but rather ask what that would resemble for a group of individuals experiencing it. You’re not just doing it since you’re some kind of superhero, you’re doing it due to the fact that you’re supporting this whole civilization throughout something of a cataclysm.”

Towerborne is a seasonal game, and the developers plan to add new material over time– while continuing to unfold the overarching story. “The property that we’ve created focuses on how you can do a seasonal game that doesn’t feel synthetic,” Thomas says. “How can you make a story where the content updates and the modifications that occur to the gameplay feel like they’re linked with the world?”

Towerborne is an Xbox-published title that will get here in 2024 on Xbox Series X/ S, Xbox Game Pass and PC through Steam.
